Y. 9 CARNATIONS—INTRODUCTIONS Of 1901. GOVERNOR ROOSEVELT. Gold medal, Pan-American Exposition. This variety is succeeding universally throughout the county- so far as heard from. It is proving with us this season a more profuse bloomer than heretofore, and seems to be following the general course of its ancestor, Its habit resembles Maceo more than ever, but it still maintains a far more vigor- ous growth, and has a much longer and more erect stem, which holds the flower per- fectly erect. The form is the best yet seen in any carna- tion. The flower is full, hav- ing a large number of petals, which are regular and per- fectly arranged, so that the periphery of the flower pro- duces a perfect semi-circle; the guarded petals stand out perpendicularly- to the calyx, while the calyx is fully as good as that of the well-known Albertini. The flower is of the largest size, producing many blooms from 3 inches and upwards across. It is unquestionably' the healthiest grower that we have; it comes into bloom in the latter part of October to the first of November, and produces an abundant and continuous crop throughout the season. Price, $ per 100; $ per 1,000. New White Carnation LORNA. Flower pure white; fragrant; 3 inches and over in diameter; center well filled, rounding up the flower to a most pleasing form. Comparing it to White Cloud, its parent, it shows a decided improvement, in a more compact and stronger growth; foliage of a much deeper bluish tint, indicating hardiness; longer and decidedly stronger stems; larger, better-formed flower with a more perfect calyx. It is a purer white and also an earlier and more free and continuous bloomer. It makes a strong field-grown plant and transplants easily even under most unfavorable conditions. Price, $ per 100; $ per 1,000. PROSPER
