They make beau- tiful specimens, foliage being dark olive gveen, and are desirable for many purposes, as they are not as expensive as bay trees, and can be used where bay trees are not admissible, as, on aceoimt of their hardiness, they will stand frost and cold. They are not only used as decorative plants forthe same purpose as , but are also used in formal outdoor planting, being perfectly hardy. Plants are sheared in beau- tiful pyramidal specimens and also in standard, or tree, form. The standards, or tree-shaped plants, stand about three feet higli above the groiuid. The pyramids are in different sizes, heights of the different sizes being given below. Pyramids, fine specimens about 3' > ft. high, each, per doz.; extra sized specimens i^i to 5 ft. high, each.
