China: Emperor Jingdi (188- 9 March 141 BCE), sixth emperor of the Western Han Dynasty ( BCE). Illustration, c. 1498. Emperor Jing of Han, personal name Liu Qi, was an emperor of the Han Dynasty. His reign saw the curtailment of the power of feudal princes, leading to the Rebellion of the Seven States in 154 BCE. Emperor Jing managed to defeat the revolt and princes were thereafter denied rights to appoint ministers for their own fiefs. This move consolidated central power, paving the way for the glorious and long reign of his son Emperor Wu of Han.
