Winter Scene, Little Ice Age, 1787
A Winter Scene; Hendrik Meyer (Dutch, 1744 - 1793); 1787. The Little Ice Age was a period of cooling that occurred during a period generally thought to run from the 16th to the 19th centuries, though some place the start date in the early 14th century. During the period 1645-1715, in the middle of the Little Ice Age, there was a period of low solar activity known as the Maunder Minimum. The Spörer Minimum has also been identified with a significant cooling period between 1460 and 1550.
