Blue Crowned Pigeon (Goura scheepmakeri, Goura cristata, Goura victoria)

Blue Crowned Pigeons are large bodied birds approaching the size of a turkey. Similar in appearance to Victoria Crowned Pigeons, they lack the white tipping to the crest. The back is maroon with the overall body still being blue gray in color. The eyes and legs are both red and the tail is tipped in a light bluish gray. There are two recognized subspecies differing only in size.
