Emmanuel J. Sieyes (1748-1846) was a French revolutionary pamphleteer and statesman. He played a leading role in the Estates General of 1789, the year the French Revolution began. The French text below his name translates "deputy from the Ville de Paris, to the National Assembly in 1789, Elected president on June 7, 1790.
