St Mary-le-Strand, cherubs in apse; by James Gibbs 1714-1717.

St Mary-le-Strand. One of the 'Fifty New Churches' or 'Queen Anne Churches', built by James Gibbs 1714-1717 in the English Baroque style. Stone carvings in the apse at the east end with cherubs’ heads, clouds and a triangle containing the Hebrew letters for YAH, the first syllable of the name YAHWEH, or JEHOVAH. It's not clear why only part of the name appears.
