A pair of Double-Barred finches (Taeniopygia bichenovii) perched in a mangrove tree above Willie Creek, Dampier Peninsula, Western Australia


Sometimes referred to as the "owl finch" due to its unique markings, double-barred finches are endemic to Australia and are found in coastal areas across the Top End from the Kimberly to south coast NSW. Willie Creek is north of Broome on the Indian Ocean coast just off Manari Road.
