Editor’s note: Image depicts death of child The body of 8-month-old Palestinian infant, Ramadan Mohammad Faisal Thawabta is carried into the governmental hospital in Beit Jala in the West Bank. Following another Day of Rage across the Occupied West Bank and Gaza, an 8-month-old Palestinian infant, Ramadan Mohammad Faisal Thawabta, died from tear gas inhalation in the West Bank village of Beit Fajjar, south of Bethlehem. The infant’s death came during clashes between Palestinian youth and Israeli soldiers in the village. Israeli forces often use tear gas during demonstrations, throwing it not only into demonstrations, but also into civilian homes. Hours before Thawabta’s death, Palestinian youth in Bethlehem clashed with Israeli soldiers in northern Bethlehem. The continuing violence in the West Bank has been particularly deadly around the West Bank city of Hebron. 10 Palestinians have been killed in and around the Hebron area, five of whom were minors. Israeli soldiers claim they were killed during alleged stabbing attacks on Israeli soldiers or settlers, though eye-witness accounts have disputed several of these alleged attempts. At least 69 Palestinians have now died, including two infant children. At least 10 Israelis have also been killed in stabbing or shooting attacks by Palestinians during the same time in October.
