A splendid Polish powder horn, 1st half of the 19th century. A finely carved horn of walrus(?) ivory in the baroque style. Both sides display hunting scenes in half relief, showing hounds fighting with a boar and with wolves, above a hunting trophy bundle or the crowned coat of arms for Poland/Lithuania. Nozzle carved in the shape of a wild boar's head. Silver suspension chain, bands bearing the Russian hallmark "84". Restored break at the lower end.
