It is the physiological period, which, begunin puberty, goes on to full development. Phys-ically the body attains its growth; and the mind by the end of theperiod has reachedpractically its normaldevelopment. Thisperiod is a very im-portant one to theyouth; many breakdown in it. (d) Maturity. Thiscomprises the periodbetween full mentaldevelopment and thedecline of life. As itis the longest period,embracing as it doesthe most active physi-cal and mental opera-tions of life, it neces-sarily calls for all ofthe powers of endurance of the individual. (e) Climacteric. The climacteric period marksthe so-called change of life (Fig. 17). As we havealready seen, the period of life at which thesexual function
