A remote village of Gaibandha district, some 400 km north of the capital are going under river. The river erosion is severe in these areas. Hundreds of houses are being grabbed by the river making thousands of people homeless. Riverbank erosion displaces more than 100,000 people annually in Bangladesh, resulting in devastating social and poverty impacts along the country's major rivers, where poverty is highly concentrated. Gaibandha, Bangladesh. July 2, 2007.
