It has beenfound in Kashmir, at Peshawar, near Ludiana, Delhi, and Roorkee, at Mardan, in Gilgit, in the Calcutta bazaar(twice to my knowledge) and near Hardoi. The birdshot in the last locality, by Captain E. D. White, was infull moult in January, and quite unable to fly, so thatthis species is doubtless resident in India, as the Indianmigratory waterfowl are through their moult longbefore the time. In habits the Stiff-tail resembles aGrebe rather than a Duck. It is more ready to dive. (Page 45) H. G run void, del Red^crested Pochard.
