Bratislava, Slovakia. Hlavné nàmestie square. The fountain of Maximillian II (detail). This fountain was built in 1572 by the first king coronated in Bratislava. During the coronation celebration a firework started a fire that destroyed part of the city. one of the reasons this fire was not extinguished effectively was the lack of prevent this from ever happening again, King Maximillian II built a large fountain. His statue is situated on top. This fountain is the oldest in Bratislava.
