Benson was among the approximately 180 Illinois Army National Guard Soldiers from the 433rd Signal Company and Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 108th Sustainment Brigade, based in Chicago, participating in annual training at Camp Dodge. During the two week period, May 12-26, Soldiers participated in Army Warrior Tasks, setup and operated a Tactical Operations Center, conducted classroom instruction in land navigation and radio operations, and participated in a classroom war exercise. In addition, they were able to conduct weapons qualifications and conduct a land navigation course.
