The Pilgrims were the founders of Plymouth Colony in Massachusetts. Here a couple are on their way to church.

In American history, the Pilgrims were the founders of Plymouth Colony in Massachusetts. The nucleus of the group was English separatists who had moved to Holland in 1607–1608. They obtained a charter from the London Company and with the help of London merchants sailed in the Mayflower in 1620. In this illustration, dating to around 1900, a Pilgrim couple is shown on their way to church.
