Gardenias are im- proving daily in quality and better prices are expected immediately. On- cidiums have improved from their low prices of last month. With the coming of the mums, longi- florum lilies have again retreated, and prices were last week cut in two. Val- ley, also, is lower, and the demand light. The expected increase in the carnation shipments has now materialized, and values are receding, only the specialties or novelties selling above $2 per hun- dred. Mrs. Ward continues to be the general favorite with the public. The dahlia shipments are over'. Violets will now show improvement in size and color. Various Notes. The eighty-third annual exhibition of the American Institute of New York will be held in the Engineering building, 25 West Thirty-ninth street, November 4 to 6. A large display of orchids, roses, carnations and chrysanthemums is ex- pected.
