In a fliort time after-wards the chryfalis is perfeft, as at fig. 2. The middle of Auguft afterwardsthe male butterfly comes forth, and appears on the wing, as at fig. 3. Thefemale is nearly fourteen days longer before it comes from the chryfalis, feefig. 4; and for the under parts fig. 5. This infefl is very far from common;but the fly may be taken on the tops of hedges, and particularly on the mapletree, on which it delights to fetde. The butterflies of this feclion are named hair-ftreaks from the fine line ofwhite crofiing the wings on the under fide. .;2.
