The Pond Garden with water feature and statue in grounds of The Inner Temple Garden in early spring, Victoria Embankment, City of London, England, UK

Dating from the 14th century, the garden comprises three acres of wide lawns, with a rare and unusual collection of trees, and herbaceous borders. The Inner Temple, in which the garden is sited, dates from the 12th century and is one of London’s four Inns of Court for practicing barristers. The Pond Garden features a small statue of a naked boy from 1928 by Margaret Wrightson (1877 to 1976). The boy is nonchalantly holding a book in his left hand and it is strategically placed in such a way so as to preserve his decency. An inscription is scrawled onto one of its pages. It reads, "Lawyers I Suppose Were Children ", and it is taken from an essay entitled "The Old Benchers Of Inner Temple", written by Charles Lamb under the pseudonym of "Elia".
