ExoMars rover construction. Engineer working on the ExoMars rover, which is being developed by ESA (the European Space Agency). This robotic rover is designed to operate autonomously on the surface of Mars, communicating with Earth and sending back data. It will move around using a system of six wheels. It will include a range of scientific instruments and analytical equipment to study the composition of Martian rocks and other aspects of the Martian environment. ExoMars was approved in 2005. After planning and construction stages, it is scheduled for launch as part of ESA's Aurora programme in 2011. Photographed at the ESTEC centre in the Netherlands.
