The Rajasthani town of Pali in Rajasthan, near Jodhpur, is India's most prolific saree dying and printing centre. . The colossal volumes of cotton and silk which are processed here reach markets all over India. Local authorities are beginning to count the environmental cost to local rivers, namely the Bandi and the Luni. The freshly dyed lengths of cloth provide an explosion of colour , suspended beneath their bamboo drying racks.
