Hismother married a second time, and moved to ForestCity, Penn., but our subject returned to Waynecounty, living with an uncle, Wareham Day, inSouth Canaan township, who allowed him to attendschool in the winter, while through the summermonths he worked in the fields. His opportunitiesfor gaining an education were extremely limited,however, vet by thorough -reading and observationhe has gained a practical knowledge of business af-fairs.
