An air pistol with a hammer-stroke air piston system, Johann Adam Kuchenreuter, Steinweg near Regensburg, circa 1840. Octagonal barrel with a smooth bore brass insert in 8 mm caliber and mostly intact bluing. Dovetailed front sight and a rear sight adjustable for height. The top of the barrel is signed "I. ADAM KUCHENREUTER" in silver. A lever on the bottom unlatches the barrel which then slides forward. Brass air pressure cylinder. Single set trigger. Lock plate and cock retaining some of the original colour case-hardening, as well as floral engraving polished,
