The bulbs originally came from Palestine, growing about Jerusalem, which makes each growing plant a souvenir of the Holy Land. It is very difficult to properly describe the Arum Sanctum, and we regret we do not have a colored plate to aid us. The magnificent flowers are sweet-scented and often over a foot long, seven to nine inches across, and so beauti- fully shaped and turned that they must have served as models for the exquisite vases and sculptures of the great ancient artists; color, the richest velvety black imagina- ble; spike or spadix rises ten to twelve inches, and is ebony black; splendid rich green luxuriant foliage. Can be as easily grown as a Calla Lily, but needing more room and richer soil. Price, per bulb, 35 cents; 3 for $ DWARF CALLA. " Little ; Should not be confused with the "Gem," being entire- ly distinct. It is indeed a pigmy, scarcely ever exceed- ing the height of one foot, yet producing good sized flowers in great abundance. The bulbs of " Little Gem" are exceedingly scarce. 35 cents each; 3 for $ Please note that these images are extracted from scanned page images that may have been digitally enhanced for readability - coloration and appearance of these illustrations may not perfectly resemble the orig
