Description.—-Capitulum covered with a thick opaquecuticle, the surface of which has a very fine, short, velvetypile, with stouter but still short setaa interspersed. Valvesseparated by distinct interspaces, that separating the scutumfrom the upper part of! the carina being1 especially wide. Thelines of growth are well-marked, regularly and rather widelyspaced; when the cuticle is removed, rather faint radial Fig. Meyalasma [Glyptelasma) pilsbryi, sp. n. -Body, from the side, showing- dorsal filamentary appendages, first cirrus, and caudal appendages. striations are visible on the scutum. Scutum with oceludentmargin slightly convex, tergal margin straight, carinal marginconvex, passing in an even curve into the straight basalmargin, which forms a little less than a right angle with thechord of the occludent margin. A submarginal ridge runsfrom umbo to apex, but there is no definite ridge from umboto tergo-carinal angle; the basal margin is slightly evertedand thickened. On the inner surface is an umbonal tooth or Barnacles of the Genus Megalasma. 367 tubercle on each valve. Tergum with apex slightly re-curved; occludent margin convex in its upper half ; angle ofocclndent and scutal margins slightly produced; a well-marked groove from apex to scuto-carinal angle.
