Robins pincushion, rose bedeguar or moss galls on dog rose stem. Red orange green shades on feathery round hairy growth caused by gall wasp larvae.


Seen at Pulbourogh brooks nature reserve these colourful mossy balls are formed around the stem or on the terminal bud of the wild dog rose. Caused by chemical engineering by the larvae of the gall wasp changing the form of the unopened leafe bud axillary's.
