The "Registered Plants" are grown under iso- lation from this originally virus-indexed stock on fumigated soil under University of Maryland supervision. An ap- proved spray schedule for insect and disease control is fol- lowed and the plants inspected regularly. They are as Virus-Free as modem scientific practices make possible and constitute the most superior plants available for fruit pro- duction. LOGAN (Black) (6303) One of Logan's outstanding characteristics is its resist- ance to mosaic and other raspberry diseases. The berry ripens one week earlier than Cumberland. It is a heavier yielder and the glossy black berries are as large. It holds up well through drought. The last picking is as fresh and free from seediness as the first. A thrifty grower, and although not as upright as Cumber- land, our growers find this no objection if the summer shoots are topped higher than normal. BRISTOL (Black) (6304) Bristol is one of the best black raspberries being grown. It ripens just a few days before Cumberland. The berries are large and firm, fairly glossy and very attractive. Quality is one of the best. The bushes are very hardy and vigorous. Bristol rates as one of the heaviest bearing black-caps now known. From observation and reports coming to us, we can recommend it highly to planters for either commercial mar- kets or home use.
