The lever receives itsthrust from a coiled spring D seated ina pocket in the lid, and transforms thispressure by full running against the hingelug E, into a powerful direct inwardpull against the center of the lid at a rightangle to it and the mouth of the boxwhen the lid is closed, thereby maintain- in no way affects the security of the lidand operating parts. It may be added that the hinge lug isformed to permit the application andproper operation of the ordinary M. C. The journal box conforms to all theessential M. C. B. standard dimensions,and can be furnished for both freighttrucks now in general use e
