Homeless young adults walk through an alley on their way to a homeless shelter in Seattle's University district on August 30th 2010. One in 5 kids coming out of foster care will be homeless within 2 years. Two million young adults across the nation are homeless. Each night 1000 young adults in the Seattle area are homeless. Seattle is one of the few US cities with homeless shelters for young adults, but even here they are being turned away in record numbers. Unemployment amongst young adults is at 19 percent, the highest it's been since 1948.
