Upon the forehead of the melancholic woman aretwo semicircular furrows above the outer parts of the the melancholic stage this patient suffered from violentheadache, and the frontal muscle exhibited frequent brief con-tractions in its outer parts above these furrows. The spasmodicmuscular contraction was confined to the outer parts because themedian portion is held more firmly in position, and hence thepeculiar semicircular furrows were produced.
