No. 22. LONDON LETTER {From Our Regular Correspondent) The Brighton Railway has completed the extension of itselectrified lines to the Crystal Palace, and has opened theline to the public. The electrification of the line from Vic-toria to London Bridge, by way of East Brixton and Peck-ham, has been so successful that the company has regainedthe patronage of the persons that they had lost to the tram-ways. Similar hopes are entertained in regard to traffic toCrystal Palace, which it has always been difficult to took half an hour to make the trip by steam, whereas thethrough electric trains will cover the distance of nine milesin about fifteen minutes, and local trains in about twentyminutes. The work of construction was started about ninemonths ago by R. W. Blackwell & Company, who constructedthe first section two years ago.
