In the former group are the Water- boatmen and Scpash-bugs and their allies, and in the latter the Cicadas or singing locusts, and the Aphides or plant-lice. The Squash-bug {Coreus tristis,) De Geer, (Fig. 276) may be taken as an example of a large group of these insects living on plants and sucking their juices.
