The Sabbath-school is so vitally relatedto the Church, and has somany important interestsin common with theChurch, that it seems onlyreasonable to expect thatit should work along thesame ecclesiastical is an excellent plan forthe Association to holdits annual business meet-ings, as this one of Cincinnati does, duringthe meetings of presbytery, so as to be intouch with that body and report to it itsproceedings for AGGRESSIVE WORK IN THESOUTH. The editor of The Earnest Worker ofRichmond, Va., gives in his publication forOctober, 1898, some facts and figures rela-tive to the work of this Department amongthe colored people of the South, and makesthem the basis for some practical asks: What, during these years, might not the South-ern Presbyterian Church have done along this lineof Sunday-school work among both whites andnegroes, if its zeal had been thoroughly aroused andintelligently guided ? Is it not far better to organ-ize and equip a good Sunday-school than to start afeeble little church, which for years must have nopastor, no efficient session, no efficient board ofdeacons, no regular Sunday service? Is not a Sun-day-school service regularly maintained, at which acarefully selected portion of Gods word is presentedand enforced by ten or a dozen faithful Christians,even though they be not experts, likely to bemore efficient in bui
