Matthias Untzer (1581-1624) was a German physician. He studied in Leipzig, Tubingen and Padua and qualified as a physician in Basle. He was an iatrochemist, a discipline that attempted to apply chemical and alchemical principles to medicine and the treatment of disease. His works include "De Sulphure Tractatus Medico-Chymicus" (1620) and "Anatomia Mecurii Spagirica" (1620). Artwork from Unzter's "Katoptron Ioimodes", a book on the plague epidemic.
