Bardsey Abbey graveyard with ruined abbey masonry and Victorian Celtic-style memorial to the legendary 20,000 saints said to be buried on the island. Ruined C19th farmhouse Ty Newydd (rear centre) was built on the edge of the monastic cemetery, many graves & bones have been found in the vicinity. Artist & writer Brenda Chamberlain lived on Bardsey 1947-61, mainly in Carreg farmhouse; she described her experiences in the book Tide-race published in 1962.
