Le Petit Journal Supplement 1897: news that a statue of Exelmans, Marshal of France, was to be erected at Bar-le-Duc, France
The front cover of Le Petit Journal Illustrated Supplement on February 14th 1897 announced a proposed statue of distinguished soldier and Marshal of France, Rémi Joseph Isidore Exelmans, which was to be erected (and was, subsequently) in his place of birth, Bar-le-Duc. The illustartion is of General Exelmans, as he was at the time of the action, fighting at the Battle of Rocquencourt in 1815.
