We must be willing to make mutualconcessions for the sake of right and justice. Todemand a higher wage than the industry can affordto pay is to clog the wheels of that industry. In say-ing that when labor makes an uneconomic demand,those demands deserve to be denied, 1 am quotingthe language of the president of the American Federation of Labor, Samuel Compel s. I am told that one division of your labor bodiesin this city is not represented here. I am sin e thatthis section of labor, when they find out with whatspirit, of fairness and what spirit of justice von areendeavoring to find the middle way for the purposeof adjusting these difficulties, will come and join you.
