View, to red brick buildings, pink rats by artist Lispencie on wall of green roof old toilet block, Stevenson Square, Manchester

Outhouse is an outdoor project for public art, located in the Northern Quarter's Stevenson Square, Manchester. Every three months the three blocks of the old, disused public toilet block in the centre of the square will be re-worked. Since 2010 the project has been supported by arts and crafts shop, Fred Aldous, sponsoring the artists' materials, and Eastern Bloc and Soup Kitchen on food duty while the artists paint. There are also plans to give the square a green makeover with pavement trees and lamp-post hanging baskets, all funded by public donations. A start has been made by putting a green roof on top of the old toilet block, seen here. The roof is planted up with, among other things, edible plants chosen by local residents and businesses. Artwork, with pink rats, by street artist, Lispencie., towards Spear Street.
