Mackie, solicitor; born Aberdeen,14 March 1892; educated Aberdeen GrammarSchool; graduated , 1912 ; , 1913. In the same year he joined the 4th GordonHighlanders ; later he transferred to the at the outbreak of war was mobilized as a2nd Lieutenant in the 1st Highland Brigade, (). After six months training at St. 108 IN Neots he crossed with his battery to Francewhere he served until his demobilization in March1919. He receivedhis Captaincy in 1915,and was mentioned indispatches in 191 record of ser-vice was character-ized by courage anddevotion to duty, byloyalty to his fellow-officers and by tirelessthought for the well-being of his men bywhom he was be-loved.
