If theplate be correctly exposed traces of theimage will appear on the sensitive film ina short time, but in case they do not, pourthe developing solution back into thegraduate and add a little more of No. 2solution (from a quarter to half an ounce)and reflow the plate with the strengtheneddeveloper. In a short time the details ofthe image will appear, but wait patientlyuntil all the details are out and clearlyseen in the deep shadows, and until themilky-white appearance of the plate isgray color. Should the image on the plateflash out suddenly on flowing it with the developing solution, andcontinue to grow very rapidly, the plate has been over-exposedand must be quickly removed from the developing tray and placedin pure water while a restraining solution of bromide is made asfollows : Dissolve 1 ounce of bromide of ammonium in 8 ouncesof water, and label Bromide solution. Now add a few dropsof the bromide solution to the developing tray and replace in it thepartly developed plate. The development will now proceed moreslowly, but if too much bromide has been added, so that the de-velopment is entirely stopped, it can be started again by addingcarefully a little more of the No. 2 solution. In the unused tray mix a solution of 4 ounces of hyposulphiteof soda and 20 ounces of water. Label this tray Hypo. anddo not use it for any other purpose. After washing
