Sample of granite. Granite is a crystalline intrusive igneous rock consisting of potassium feldspar and quartz with hornblende and mica as common accessory minerals. Igneous rocks are formed by magma (molten rock) being cooled and becoming solid. Granite has phaneritic texture - it's mineral grains are of nearly equal size and are visible to the naked eye.
