Figure 7-2 shows the daily mean vectors for NCI and NC7 for September through March. The values have been smoothed by a 25-hour running mean. Mooring NCI has been taken as representative of the western and central parts of the Chukchi (NC1-NC4) and NC7 as representative of the easternmost Chuk- chi (NC6-NC7), where the strongest flows have previously been encountered (cf.
