Among the names that are prominently connected withliie development, progress, and welfare of Shiawassee Countyis that of F. G. Bailey. Having occupied some, publicposition the whole time during the last thirty years hasgiven him a large experience, which has contributed verymuch to his success and greatly to the advantage of thepublic. He was born in the city of Bath, England, and atthe age of four years came to the United States with hisparents, who first made New York City their home andafterwards removed to Rochester, N. Y. When he waseighteen years of age he came to Hadley, Lapeer Co.,Mich., where he engaged in teaching, which was for severalyears his principal business. Ill health rendered an abandon-ment of his profession necessary, and he then engaged inmercantile business in Goodrich, Genesee Co., Mich., fromwhere he removed to Shiawassee County in 18C0, and en-gaged in farming.
