A wheellock rifle,Johann Georg Dax,Munich circa 1730. Octagonal barrel with seven-groove rifled bore in 13 mm calibre,and a dovetailed brass front sight(rear sight missing). The signature,"IOH. GEORG. DAX. IN. MÜNCHEN",engraved on the breech. The wheellock chiselled on both sides with decorative rocaille and figurative designs and bears another signature. Double set trigger,(front trigger missing). Carved walnut full stock(shrink cracks in the butt stock and under the lock)with a horn nose cap,and an iron trigger guard,cut en suite.
