On 24 April "the biggest political trial in Ireland in a generation". 7 defendants, one of whom is TD (MP) Paul Murphy are accused of false imprisonment for participating in a peaceful sit down protest in front if the car of the then Tanáiste (Deputy Prime Minister) Joan Burton. If this political witch hunt succeeds it will have a chilling effect on the right to protest in Ireland. The Haldane Society of Socialist Lawyers has called this picket to stand with those in Ireland who are fighting to defend the right to protest.
