Sow early in spring, in rich soil, and trans- plant the following spring to permanent beds, in rows (or hills) three feet apart, and two feet between the plants. It requires a deep, rich loam, and should be protected in winter by a covering of leaves or coarse manure. Perennial. Price per pkt., loc; per oz., 30C. Tuberous=Rooted Artichoke. Jerusalem Artichoke. This is quite distinct from the Globe Artichoke, being grown exclusively for its tubers, which are prized for pickling and used largely for stock feeding.
