Political prison in Peniche Portugal
This is the prison where Salazar sent the high profile political prisioners. The dictatorship lasted 48 years and ended in 1974 with the carnation revolution in 25 April. Alvaro Cunhal the leader of the Portuguese Communist Party was jailed here and successfully escaped. After the revolution the prison was transformed into a museum.
