Porter Evans, assistant department head of research at Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune, Intrepid Spirit Concussion Recovery Center and Carol Jones, a research coordinator received second place at the 2015 Military Health System Research Symposium for their research entitled "Establishing Large Scale Data Repositories in a Military Health Care Setting." Their research is focused on the establishment of a large-scale data repository that will better illustrate war (brain, physical and emotional) injury characteristics and response to treatment in support of individualized precision medicine. The poster was awarded second place out of 250 entrants of original research on military health across both DoD and academic medical institutions. The research project was led by Evans and Jones, who were assisted by associate investigators Cmdr. Randy Reese, a neuropsychologist and neurologist Capt. Thomas Johnson, the director of the center.
