Head.—The head is oval and somewhat narrower than the thorax. The upper lip is without distinct teeth, but is divided into three regions. There are six ocelli arranged in two groups, four close together and the other two more separate and posterior to the group of four. The antennae are made up of the following segments: The first segment is short and broad, the second is twice as long and somewhat more slender, the third is the same length as the second, becoming broader toward the tip and with an additional lobe on the inner side. There are two long hairs near the tip of this segment. The fourth segment is small and short with one long hair. The maxillse are entirely different from those of Philonthus. There is a basal piece made up of two sclerites. Attached to this region are two parts. The inner one is rectangular, with a toothed edge like a comb on the inner side. The maxillary palpus makes the other region and consists of five slender segments. In the mentum and ligula is a squarish basal piece. The ligula is narrow at the base, broadens suddenly, and ends in a prolongation.
