The climate seems to have been disastrousto the inmates of the convent. Even duringa year when there was no special epidemic,nine died between the months of July andDecember. When the Genoese took Famagusta in1473, the Franciscans had greatly declined,and no further mention is made of themafter 1500. Carmelite Church of 5t. Plary.
